Cannonau de Sardegna is made by the Sardinian winery Sa Raja and is the red wine that symbolizes the region particularly well. This wine has contributed to the fact that this region has become known and that enthusiasts love it. The high quality of the grapes, a delicate and precise vinification and the choice not to use wood during maturation are the ingredients of a wine with a pure and fragrant profile.
The red Cannonau is produced by a winery that has been able to interpret the native vines of Sardinia in the name of freshness and elegance. Sa Raja manages vineyards in different parts of Sardinia and produces bottles with a strong territorial personality. The Cannonau vineyards are located in Romangia, the northwestern part of Sardinia, overlooking the wide Gulf of Asinara. The vines have an average age of 20 years and are planted at an altitude of 90 meters above sea level, on sandy soils, resting on a soil of marl and limestone. The grapes are harvested manually in mid-September. In the winery, the bunches are selected and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 22 to 28 degrees. Before the wine is bottled, the wine is aged for 8 months in stainless steel tanks.
Cannonau Sa Raja wine is the translation of Sardinia's most famous and best-loved red wine. And made in a version that enhances the Mediterranean profile of the windswept but above all ideal wine region. In the glass, the Cannonau appears in a ruby red color with light violet reflections. In the nose an exuberant fruity bouquet with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, ripe cherries, plums, hints of forest fruit jam, wild shrubs and herbs. The taste is also very fragrant, rich and full of soft tannins. The fruity character also emerges nicely in the taste. The aftertaste is harmonious, fresh and savory.
