Hidden in the gentle hills and velvety valleys of the Chianti Classico wine region, stands the symbol of Brolio Castle. This majestic castle is surrounded by 240 hectares of vineyards and 26 hectares of olive groves. The Ricasoli family, whose roots date back to the time of Charlemagne, has guarded and cultivated these lands since 1141. This family not only determined the fate of Florence against eternal enemies, but also played a decisive role in the Italian unification under the leadership of Bettino Ricasoli, the Iron Baron. Ricasoli's current owner and president, Francesco, continues this legacy by sustainably renewing the vineyards and studying the unique character of the Brolio Sangiovese grape variety.

The "Roncicone", made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, reflects the unique terroir of its birthplace. The soil, rich in marine sediments from the Pliocene and peppered with fossils and lignite, gives this wine a special character.

In the glass, the "Roncicone" reveals a deep garnet red color. At first glance brings out vibrant aromas of ripe cherries, blackcurrants and a hint of violet, followed by subtle hints of leather, tobacco and earthy notes. On the palate, the wine offers a harmonious balance of fresh acidity and firm tannins, with flavors of juicy red fruit, plums and a touch of Mediterranean herbs.

As for the food pairing: the complexity and depth of this wine asks for robust, tasty dishes. Think of grilled red meat, rich pastas such as tagliatelle al ragù, game dishes, or a hearty ossobuco. Mature cheeses such as pecorino or parmigiano-reggiano would also pair beautifully with the rich flavors and tannin profile of this wine.

Awarded high scores from some of the most respected wine critics in the world, the “Roncicone” is not just a drink, but an experience that begs to be shared. Let yourself be taken on a journey through the rich history of Ricasoli and taste the passion in every glass.
