From the heart of the renowned Serralunga d'Alba comes Luigi Baudana, a winery that has honored the art of winemaking for generations. They are particularly renowned for their dedication to traditional methods, whilst preserving the old world charm of Barolo.
This specific Barolo Serralunga d'Alba embodies the rich history and deep love for the Nebbiolo grape. It represents the authentic, old-fashioned Barolo style, a technique that brings out the true character and complexity of the grape without the influence of modern winemaking techniques, such as excessive use of oak.
Thanks to the unique composition of the Baudana, Cerretta and, since 2015, Costabella plots, this wine shines with a powerful structure and deep aromatic layers for which Serralunga is known. The carefully chosen altitude of the vineyards, in combination with the diverse soil composition, contributes to the versatility of flavors in the bottle. The late harvest in October ensures that each grape gets the most out of the nutrient-rich soil. After careful fermentation of 25 days, the wine is given time to mature and develop in large wooden barrels.
Upon opening the bottle you are greeted by a vibrant ruby red color. The nose is flooded with aromas of red raspberries, plums and cherries, complemented by subtle hints of spicy spices and the classic elegant rose petals. Each sip reveals a warm and full mouthfeel, with refined tannins that give a long-lasting finish. The power and elegance of Serralunga is clearly evident, a perfect embodiment of old-fashioned Barolo at its best.
And what about the perfect culinary accompaniment? This Barolo is a great partner for hearty meat dishes such as stewed beef and game dishes, and also delicious with richly topped pastas and mature cheeses. It is more than a wine; it is an experience that enriches every meal.
