Located in the famous Chianti region, where age-old wine-growing traditions merge with innovative techniques, is 'Agricoltori del Chianti Geografico'. Founded in 1961 as a cooperative, it is now under the esteemed supervision of Piccini. Each vineyard under Geografico's watchful eye is carefully assessed by a team of geologists and vineyard specialists. Their mission? Ensuring grape varieties and rootstocks are just right, and helping owners with both vineyard setup and ongoing management. An expert team then cares for the wine, which is finally bottled in state-of-the-art facilities. Combining their strict quality ethos with a deep respect for terroir, their premium wines always come from a single vineyard and take the name of their respective domains. Their approach? A classic winemaking process with minimal intervention, resulting in wines that are both genuinely authentic and exceptionally price-conscious.
If we delve deeper into the production of the Bosco del Grillo Governo, it is steeped in tradition. This wine is the product of the venerable Governo Method, in which a second fermentation is initiated by the addition of dried grapes. And the wine itself? Pour it and you will see an intense, deep red spell. Its aroma exudes notes of ripe, seductive red cherries, harmoniously blended with a delicate floral hint of violets. It is immediately powerful on the palate, but remains gracefully fluid. A rich melody of dark fruits dances with velvety tannins. Although the alcohol makes its presence felt, it is harmoniously interwoven, creating layered complexity and striking balance. As for the pairing? Imagine it accompanying a hearty Tuscan stew or charcuterie board, where the flavors meld beautifully with aged cheeses and cured meats, elevating every dining experience.
