The Riserva represents the roots of the Fattoria Le Pupille and was the first wine to leave the winery in 1982, coming from the 1978 harvest, the year in which the DOC Morellino di Scansano was created. The oldest vineyards are on average thirty years old to the younger ones from 2002, they are located at an altitude of 50 to 250 meters above sea level.

The winery Fattoria Le Pupille is seen as a true Pioneer in the southern part of Tuscany. Anyone who hears the name of this winery will immediately think of red wines. Sangiovese, or the king of this domain, occupies no less than seventy percent of the vineyards. Today the winery owns 75 hectares of vineyards, divided between the beautiful areas of Maremma. The soil varies from a clay and ferrous soil to a soil with gravel.

The Morellino di Scansano Riserva appears in a deep dark garnet in the glass. The bouquet smells seductively of red fruit, accompanied by delicate balsamic aromas and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, this Morellino Riserva by Elisabetta Gepetti is very concentrated with a full, round body, in a nice balance with firm and persistent tannins. The long, persistent finish closes with classic fruity and spicy nuances. This noble red wine from the southern Maremma is best drunk as an excellent accompaniment to pasta dishes with tasty, complex sauces, main courses with red meat or game and when maturing cheeses with fruity mustard.
