A unique red wine requires a unique appearance, at least that's what winery Chateau De Caravettes thinks about it. The winery Chateau De Caravettes is part of the large and well-known winery Vignobles Vellas, which is no stranger to the wine region of Languedoc. It makes very elegant red and white wines, each with their own character and style. In addition, the winemaker believes that the appearance of the bottle should say something about the quality and style of the wine. That also worked well with this red wine from the winery Chateau De Caravettes. Pure, honest and stylish, that's how the bottle looks.
The vineyards for this Chateau De Caravettes are located in the Languedoc wine region, in Murles to be precise. There grow the three different grape varieties for this red wine. It is made up of 50% Syrah, 35% Grenache and 15% Mourvèdre, but that is indispensable on the label. All vineyards are nestled between many forest areas that influence the harvest. In this way the sun can easily do its work and the forests protect the trusses against strong wind currents. The grape varieties grow up with great respect for nature, and we can taste that in the pure style of this Chateau De Caravettes. The Languedoc starts early in the morning when the harvest is ripe. Each bunch is hand selected and harvested to ensure purity in this red wine. Well that sucks!
After the harvest, this red wine matures in its entirety for at least twelve months in oak barrels. This makes it a sturdy boy, a lot of depth and power in both the smell and the taste. As soon as we remove the cork from the bottle of Chateau De Caravettes, we immediately smell a lot of black fruit with a slight spiciness. In the glass it turns deep purple with a red sparkle. Beautiful scents pop out of the glass and remind us of blackberries and cherries with vanilla, black licorice, licorice and spices. In the taste, it gives the tongue fine tannins, lots of blackberries and cherries and some light spiciness. In the final a lot of softness and roundness that we are used to from Chateau De Caravettes.
