After the great success of the white Liboll Extra Dry, San Marzano managed to surprise us with this new Rosé variant. The wine house that we have had in our assortment for years is a true hero. Since 1962, it has been producing the most beautiful wines in the heel of the boot in Italy. Before the creation of this winery, there was a group of winegrowers who wanted to make beautiful wines together. They already had the land and together they built the winery San Marzano. Through the years they achieved many successes and now the winery has grown into a world player where the quality is extremely high.
A variety of indigenous grape varieties are grown in Salento for this rosé. The influence of the ocean has an important role in the harvest. The fresh wind that always blows through the vineyards provides the right cooling in the warm climate. As a result, the grapes retain their freshness and are brought in early in the season. In the early morning San Marzano starts bringing in the bunches for this Liboll Extra Dry Rose. After all, the freshness and purity must be preserved in order to make a top sparkling wine that can compete with Champagne. The harvest is done entirely by hand and each bunch is checked; only the best are harvested and gently pressed. The beautiful juice then matures on its own yeast cells, creating the very nice, fine bubbles.
Upon opening the Champagne cork we almost immediately smell the fresh red fruit. In the glass we see a very nice soft mousse. The ripe and soft bubbles rise gently in the glass and give our senses full attention. With the glass to the nose, we detect impressions of orange blossom, pink grapefruit and some pomegranate. The taste is fantastic, a nice fresh start with lots of fruit tones of strawberry and raspberry. Later, when this Liboll Extra Dry Rosé rolls around in the mouth, we also taste crisp notes of grapefruit and lime. The aftertaste is long and refreshing with recurring red fruit.
