[TOO NEW FOR VIVINO]
This red wine is deliciously fresh but rich in flavour. You will find intense flavours of red fruit but also a touch of pepper in the aftertaste. The grape Lledoner Pelut goes back to the middle ages where it was planted in France by pilgrims coming back from Santiago de Compostella's way. Meanwhile, it is an extremely rare grape and is only cultivated on a few hundred hectares. It is closely related to the dark Grenache. Lledoner Pelut refers to the Hackberry in Catalan. It is a beautiful southern tree with small black berries.
The estate is located in the centre of Gabian in the Hérault department in the French region of Languedoc-Roussillon. In 1989 the somewhat battered property was discovered by the originally Swiss architect couple Verena Wyss and her husband. This became their joint dream spot. The splendidly situated property on a hill was then completely gutted and renovated in style.
The wine has an intense red colour. Scents of red fruit, strawberries, herbs, thyme and rosemary fill the glass. A remarkable wine with notes of black licorice and pepper. A full body with lots of flavour and great elegance..
