This wine is a delicious red wine with rich aromas of ripe fruit, and consists one hundred percent of the Barbera grape. The Barbera grapes are strong, productive and have a deep red colour. It is the most common grape variety in Piedmont. The wines made with Barbera grapes are pleasantly fresh on the palate, due to the typical acidity of this grape.

The uniqueness of this wine is that 50% of the grapes are harvested by hand and dried in baskets for forty days so that colour and aromas can develop further. The other 50% remains in the vineyard for a natural 'appassimento' and is harvested later. Both parts of the harvest are processed into wine separately. Malolactic fermentation is followed by blending of the two wines. The Cascina Ghercina Appassimento Piedmont Barbera then matures for six months in small wooden barrels. Delicious wine with rich aromas of ripe fruit and cherries. Velvety soft tannins and intense taste experience.
