One of the most beautiful wines from Fattoria Le Pupille this red Poggio Valente! This wine is made from only Sangiovese grapes grown 280 meters above sea level. This old vineyard dates back to the seventies, the old tendrils give this Fattoria Le Pupille Poggio Valente its own terroir. The harvest is brought in entirely by hand and then aged in oak barrels. This gives it an overwhelming smell and a complex taste.


The name of the winery has nothing to do with the owner's eyes, because Pupille means "hill" in Tuscan language. This winery is located on one of the numerous elevations of the Maremma near Tuscany. In the early 1980s, Elisabetta Geppetti took over an abandoned farmhouse with a mansion east of Grosseto and restored it in the typical Tuscan style. With her wines produced at Fattoria Le Pupille, she has not only created a masterpiece that combines tradition with modernity, but has also put the region on the map.

Only selected Sangiovese clones are used for this wine, which grows in the single Poggio Valente location 280 meters above sea level, in a southwestern location. The vines are planted on sandy soils, which gives the wines a fine balance and silky tannins. After selective hand-picking, the grapes are macerated on the skins for about 25 days, fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged for fifteen months in 500 liters and 600 liters of French oak tonneaux.

The Poggio Valente by Fattoria Le Pupille shines in a strong dark cherry red in the glass. Complex aromas of cherries, followed by balsamic notes and the classic notes of the Sangiovese grape (oregano, coffee, roasted tomato, etc.) meet you. The taste is complex and refined, beautiful flavors of cherries, berries, pepper, biscuit and something of vanilla and oak. Beautiful refined tannins and a creamy aftertaste complete the wine! The Poggio Valente is best served with game dishes or refined red meat preparations.
