This Delbeaux Premium Viognier is a true pearl and that too for this price! Delbeaux is a cooperative of wine producers who all have a common goal, to make quality wines for a perfect price-quality ratio. Well if anything has succeeded, it is this joint vision!
What makes this white wine so special? The grapes are planted in Languedoc-Rousillon. This area is currently completely back on track and is home to beautiful wineries. Due to the Mediterranean climate, the grapes receive many hours of sunshine and, due to their location by the sea, sufficient coolness to prevent the ripening process from proceeding too quickly. This allows the wines to grow up perfectly in peace. When the grapes are at the right ripeness, they are harvested very early in the morning. The reason for a harvest early in the morning is that the grapes are still "sleeping". This way they retain their delicious freshness and the skin remains well intact until the pressing. The harvest is done entirely by hand so that only the best grapes are chosen to be pressed through a strict selection. After the vinification process, this delicious white wine matures for several months in used French oak barrels to add even more flexibility to this champ.
The color is a beautiful straw yellow with a golden shimmer. In the fragrance a pleasant Viognier bouquet of flowers and yellow and white fruit and pleasant vanilla. The taste of this Delbeaux Premium Viognier is pure and refined. Beautiful nuances of pear, apricots, melon and mango form a wonderful interplay in the mouth. The aftertaste is very soft, supple but also pleasantly long with a light vanilla finish. It is not surprising that well-known restaurants, including a top restaurant from Maastricht, love to work with this white wine!
