A beautiful wine from one of the most famous wine-growing regions of the Rhone. It is an expressive wine consisting of a blend of fully organic grapes 60 percent Grenache Noir, 30 percent Syrah and 10 percent Mourvedre. Each grape variety gives its unique calling card to this full-bodied fruity wine.
In the southeast of France we find the winery Chateau La Nerthe. A place where a lot of history meets and the cellars date back to the 16th century. The vines are spread over 92 hectares of Chateauneuf du Pape appellation. There are three families responsible for the success of the winery. The first owner was the Tulle de Villefrancha family. They built the chateau in the 18th century and introduced the wines to France, Europe and the United States. Joseph Ducos bought the winery in the 19th century and renovated the vineyards, planting 10 to 13 grape varieties that can be grown in Chateauneuf du Pape. In 1985 it was taken over by the Richard family who completely renovated the chateau, the vineyards and the cellar.
The grapes for this red blend come from old vineyards of Cotes Du Rhône Villages located in Serignan du Comtat. The vines are planted on different types of soil with sand, clay and shards of calcareous rock. This foundation ensures high quality and balanced wines. When the grapes are perfectly ripe, they are harvested by hand and sorted in the wine cellar. They are then macerated for three weeks to preserve the brightness of the fruit and the tannins. The juice is then blended and the wine is aged for 9 months in stainless steel tanks on the fine lees.
This red blend has a dark and deep purple colour. It is a medium to full-bodied wine with a silky texture. The aromas are dominated by Syrah, floral, red berries and sweet spices. The finish is delicate and balanced. A delicious wine with vegetable dishes such as ratatouille, grilled lamb ribs or with pasta bolognese.
