What a beautiful red wine this Aska from winery Castello Banfi. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon with a little Cabernet Franc. The municipality of Bolgheri is located close to the coast south of the famous cities of Pisa and Livorno. It is an appellation that originated from the idea of creating more internationally styled wines with grape varieties other than those allowed.
Banfi was founded in 1978 thanks to the Italian-American brothers, John and Harry Mariani. From the beginning, the goal of the two brothers was to create a state-of-the-art winery, combining the most advanced science in the vineyards to produce premium wines. Today it is a special winery with an estate of no less than 2830 hectares, of which 800 hectares are planted with vineyards. This makes Castello Banfi by far the largest and most important producer of Brunello di Montalcino. The estate is dominated by a beautifully restored medieval castle. The estate was acquired in 1978 by the Mariani family. Since then, they have made every effort to bring their domain's wines to the top of the DOC.
