The Viognier is back with a vengeance. Despite its low yield, it is being planted with great success in more and more places. It originated in the Northern Cotes du Rhone, where it was particularly successful in Condrieu. However, more and more winemakers discovered this aromatic stunner. This also applies to Bis By Biscaye, where this Viognier has now become a flagship. Challenging in the scent, sultry in the mouth. Get ready for luscious notes of melon, apricot, soft pear and even some mango. A light touch of vanilla in the aftertaste makes this Bis by Biscaye Viognier an extremely successful glass of wine from Languedoc-Roussillon.
This Bis by Biscaye Viognier is being created on its own domain located in the Languedoc-Roussillon, just a stone's throw from the lively student city of Montpellier. It is currently run by Emmanuele Biscaye, who represents the fifth generation. He passionately manages the family winery Clos L'Armet, which has been owned by the Biscaye family for over a hundred years. Initially the emphasis was only on growing grapes. Since Emmanuele Biscaye has been at the helm, there has been more attention to quality, which has resulted in the first bottling on the domain in 2010.
The Biscaye family has owned the vineyards for five generations. As a result, a special range of grape varieties has been planted; varieties that are not standard planted on the vineyards in the south of France. How about the newbie Marselan and powerhouse Syrah. But we are especially fond of Viognier, which is the main ingredient in this white wine from Bis By Biscaye. Beautifully planted on the poor granite soils on the domain, she knows how to make the best wines.
