In the Paardeberg wine region, or Swartland to be precise, lie the Busy Bee vineyards, which are managed by the winery Babylon's Peak. The winery has a very long history, because today already the fourth generation is at the helm. The wines are still made with great respect for nature, which is why the Busy Bee wines were developed. It is an ode to the bees that are very important for viniculture.
The vineyards for this Busy Bee red wine are family-owned and belong to the Babylon's Peak winery. The vineyards are famous and infamous in the area, because nowhere else is the concentration of granite so high in the soils. As a result, the grapes develop perfectly and acquire beautiful, powerful characteristics.
It is quite a unique piece of craftsmanship! This Busy Bee Red Blend is an SMV or a Syrah, Mourvèdre, Viognier; yes you read it correctly, a red wine made with a white grape. This Viognier gives a unique flavour to this red wine. The spectacle begins when you open the bottle, because then you can smell impressions of black fruit and light herbs, among other things. In the glass, this red wine colours beautifully ruby red with a purple edge. The nose is full of black and red fruit, but also impressions of spices, vanilla and white peach. The taste of this Busy Bee Red Blend is soft and refined with a lot of fruit like strawberries, cherries, plums and berries. On the back of the tongue, there are beautiful nuances of herbs and cedar wood, with a slight hint of vanilla.
