This is probably the most famous wine of Dutch origin, growing up in Maastricht on the Louwberg. With its striking orange label, it could not be more Dutch. The wine has also been served in the business class of a well-known airline for years, and winemaker Mathieu Hulst knows this doesn't happen without reason. This Cuvee XII shows in one bottle what the Dutch viticulture has to offer, because it is made with forty percent Muller Thurgau, thirty percent Auxerrois and the rest with Pinot Gris. Each year, the ratio can vary slightly to get the same taste impressions. But that is Mathieu Hulst's trade, and he can make top wines from Maastricht like no other.

This white wine Cuvee XII has been produced by Apostelhoeve since 2002 and is their biggest project. A wine that distinguishes itself and has an incomparable taste. The grapes come from the Apostelhoeve's oldest vines, which grow beautifully on the Louwberg. There the grapes get many hours of sunshine, coolness from the wind that blows over the mountain and the soil is unique. Mathieu is most proud of the latter and says it is unique in the Netherlands. A lot of chalk, gravel and marl give the vines their unique terroir. We can taste that in this Cuvee XII.

The aroma is ripe and round with aromas of apricots, ripe figs and a hint of pear. At the back of the nose, we also noted nuances of light herbs and some grapefruit. On the palate, it has a nice spiciness and beautiful fruity acidity with a tropical start. Yes, actually a piece of high-level craftsmanship, with taste impressions of rich apricots, a bit of lime and floral tones. Finally, a pleasant, soft aftertaste.

A special wine demands special dishes, because that is what this white Cuvee XII is. This wine from the Apostelhoeve tastes delicious with risotto, pasta dishes, light meat such as veal and of course with salad and asparagus. But also with fish dishes and or crayfish this white wine can bring your dish to a high point.
