Sparkling wines in Alsace is not a novelty. On the contrary: sparkling wines were already being made in this French wine region at the end of the 19th century. The official name Cremant d'Alsace has been in existence since 1976. A Cremant is a sparkling wine, which is made in the same way as the famous champagne. Complete with second fermentation in bottle. However, champagne may only be called champagne if it comes from this area and is adhered to strict rules. The same happens with a Cremant. For example, the Cremant d Alsace may only consist of Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, Riesling, Pinot noir, Pinot gris and chardonnay. This Kuehn consists of 100% pinot blanc grapes. This also ensures the refined character of this bubble.
